(quiet time with Him 190311 11:47-12:35 t36/3 when listening Louder than life Sidney Mohede)
LUKE 10:38-40
38: As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him.
39: She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said
40: But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked: "Lord, don't you care that my sister left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me."

38: a woman named Martha opened her home to Him.
*_^ How often we open our home to Jesus? Once a day? Once a week? A year?
*_^ How about our heart? Our job? Our relationship? Have we ever opened them to Him and invited Him to come? How often?
39-40:Jesus came in to Martha's home.
There are 2 responses when we accept Jesus in our home: very busy with a lot things (Martha) and listening to Him only (Mary).
#1. Martha that was distracted by .....
Why was Martha so busy?
There are 3 things that I could think of:
1. She did not prepare her self for Jesus to come. When she invited Him, she actually hadn't prepared her home for Him.
2. She is a person who worried to much about things. Everything she wants to give/do, so she forgot the esential of inviting Jesus to her home.
3. She wants to get all the attention " See, I've done a lot of things for You Lord?"
*_^ Which reason that you have?
When we invite Jesus to come in into our home (= our heart, jobs, relationship),
how is our responses when He come in?
Too busy to fix/prepare a lot things so we ignore Him?
Too busy until we forget that He is already in our home?
#2. Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what He said.
* Wow, Mary didn't only listen but she sat at His feet, listening.
I try to imagine her position when listening Jesus, "at His feet".
This is a very close position, the closest when you near to someone.
From this position, you could see His face when He say something, the changes of His lips, His eyes,
the movement of His body, His arms, His head,
you could hear when He breath, everything about Him is very clear.
Mary wanted to see the whole of Him when she knew that Jesus came to her sister's house.
She is not satisfied with only His words, but the whole of Him, for herself.
(In Jesus's time, a woman doesn't suppose to be this close to a preach/teacher like Jesus. They suppose to be in the kitchen, far away from the conversation. But Mary brake all that tradition, just to listen to Jesus, to be in His side)
*_^ How about us? How big is our effort to be close to Him? To listen to His words? To see His face?
Now, in our time, it is not difficult to meet Him, it is just as far as "call His name" and He is there already for you only.
Actually, He is always there but have we ever noticed Him?
He is always there but how often we realize Him?
He is there but how often we ask Him to walk together and master our life?
dekat padaMu, itu rinduku
setiap kataku Kau pun menunggu
Tak kusangka kutemukan satu kasih yang abadi
Kini kudatang dan kubawa hidupku
memandang wajahMu, mengikuti kebaikanMu
mengejar hadirMu di dalam hidupku
Membawa sembahku, menyatakan kebesaranMu
Mengejar hadirMu di dalam hidupku
(Sidney Mohede, Louder than Life)
Kau menungguku berkata,
Mengejar hadirMu oh Tuhan itu hasratku.
